Tanot is a sacred village near the India-Pakistan border in Jaisalmer, famous for the Tanot Mata Temple. During the 1965 Indo-Pak war, it is believed that the goddess protected the temple from bombings—none of the shells fired by Pakistani tanks exploded near it. The temple, maintained by the Border Security Force (BSF), attracts pilgrims and tourists alike for its divine aura and historical legacy. The nearby Tanot Border Post offers a glimpse of the military zone, with permission. Visiting Tanot is a spiritual and patriotic experience, blending faith and national pride in the golden desert landscape of Rajasthan.
